Durham Camera Co.

Camera packages from $999, installed.

We keep it simple. Three packages — Basic, Standard, Premium — at two camera counts each: 4 or 6. The price you see is the price installed. Tax extra. No “starting at” weasel pricing.

If you want 8+ cameras or a commercial build with a custom layout, we quote those during the free in-home assessment.

What every install includes

Every Durham Camera Co. install includes:

  • All cameras and the network video recorder, also called the NVR
  • Hard drive: 1TB on Basic, 2TB on Standard and Premium
  • All cabling, run cleanly through soffits, attic, basement, crawlspace, or wall cavities whenever the house allows it
  • Mounting, aiming, weatherproofing, and final cleanup
  • Mobile app setup on your phone, walkthrough included
  • 3 years on parts and labour — we come out, diagnose, and replace under warranty at no charge
  • Free Durham Camera Co. yard sign and window decals — visible signage helps make the system obvious before anyone gets near the door

What's not included: tax, running new electrical to a location that doesn't have power, and major drywall repair. If an unusual cable route requires an access point, we explain it before work starts.

Basic — $999 / $1,499

4 cameras: $999 installed

6 cameras: $1,499 installed

Cameras
Foscam / AI Guard 5MP turret-style. Wide-angle 2.8mm lens. 30 metres of infrared night vision. IP66 weatherproof.
Recorder
4-channel NVR for the 4-camera package or 8-channel NVR for the 6-camera package. 1TB hard drive — typically holds around 2 weeks of motion-triggered footage on a 4-camera setup.
Best for
Homeowners who want solid coverage of the obvious spots — driveway, front door, side gate, backyard — without paying for the highest-end image quality. This is our budget tier and it's a real, working system. Not a starter kit you'll regret in two years.
What you give up vs Standard
Lower resolution: 5MP instead of 4K. Night vision is black-and-white only.

Standard — $1,599 / $2,199

4 cameras: $1,599 installed

6 cameras: $2,199 installed

Cameras
Hikvision 4K (8MP) turret. 2.8mm lens. 30 metres of smart IR. IP67 weatherproof.
Recorder
4-channel or 8-channel 4K NVR. 2TB hard drive — typically holds around 3 weeks of motion-triggered footage on a 4-camera setup.
Best for
Most of our customers. The image quality jump from 5MP to 4K is real — sharper detail for faces, vehicles, driveway activity, and backyard coverage when the camera is placed correctly. Hikvision is the brand most professional installers use, and we get it for a fair price.
What you give up vs Premium
Night vision is still black-and-white. Clear and detailed, but not full colour.

Premium — $1,999 / $2,599

4 cameras: $1,999 installed

6 cameras: $2,599 installed

Cameras
Hikvision ColorVu 4K. Full-colour night vision — the picture stays in colour in low light, instead of switching to the old green-and-grey infrared look. Same 2.8mm wide lens, 30m+ low-light range, IP67.
Recorder
Same 4K NVR and 2TB hard drive as Standard.
Best for
Customers who care most about night-time identification. ColorVu is better at picking up clothing colour, vehicle colour, and faces in low light. If you're worried about overnight events specifically — driveway theft, late-night porch visits — Premium is the upgrade that matters.

8+ cameras / commercial

For larger residential setups, small business storefronts, contractor shops, churches, or anything that doesn't fit a fixed package, we don't try to squeeze you into the wrong tier. We come out, walk the property, and quote based on the actual layout. Commercial pricing usually lands somewhere between Standard and Premium per-camera, depending on cable runs and mounting complexity.

What's not included

We're upfront about what we don't do, so there are no surprises:

  • We don't sell or set up alarm monitoring services. If you want monitored alarms, talk to a company that does that — we don't.
  • We don't run new electrical. If a camera location needs new power, we'll either re-route to an existing outlet or refer you to an electrician.
  • We don't do major drywall repair. If an unusual cable route requires an access point, we explain it before work starts so you can decide how to handle it.
  • We don't do smart-home integrations beyond getting the camera app on your phone. No full home automation, no Alexa routines, no Google Home routines.
